About

Sound Planned With the Same Intention as Architecture

CALISONICS was created around a simple principle: professional sound should be planned with the same intention as architecture, lighting, and interior design.

CALISONICS is an independent sound-system design company based in Los Angeles. The work is designing audio systems for hospitality, entertainment, commercial, and luxury residential spaces — analyzing the venue, specifying the equipment, coordinating with the project team, and tuning the finished result.

Independence matters here. CALISONICS does not represent a manufacturer and is not compensated for specifying a particular brand. Equipment is selected because the design calls for it, and the reasoning is shown to the client.

How We Work

Every project starts with the space and how it will be used, not with a product list. Coverage, zoning, output targets, and control strategy are decided first; equipment is selected to deliver them.

Design decisions are documented and explained. An owner should be able to see what is being specified, understand why, and compare quotations on equal terms.

The design is then protected through construction. Substitutions are reviewed, drawings are checked for conflicts, and installation is observed — because a system is only as good as what actually gets built.

Capability

What the Practice Brings

Sound system design sits between several disciplines. These are the ones the work depends on.
  • 01

    Professional Audio Equipment

Working knowledge of loudspeakers, amplification, processing, networking, and control across manufacturers — including how equipment behaves once it leaves the specification sheet and enters a real room.

  • 02

    Hospitality Operations

How venues actually run: service periods, staff turnover, opening and closing routines, and the difference between a system that works in a demonstration and one that works on a Saturday night.

  • 03

    Entertainment Environments

High-output rooms, changing programs, guest DJs and performers, and the operational demands those place on a system's headroom, protection, and control.

  • 04

    System Integration

How audio connects to networks, control systems, power, and the rest of the building's infrastructure — and what has to be agreed with other trades before it can.

  • 05

    Client Experience

Sound is one part of how a guest experiences a space. It has to support the room's identity rather than compete with it.

  • 06

    Technical Coordination

Producing documentation that architects, electricians, contractors, and installers can act on without needing an audio background.

  • 07

    Real-World Performance

Measurement-based verification and tuning in the finished space, because a room with furniture, glass, and guests is not the room shown on a drawing.
